Quick Question: I am placing an order with Long Island Corvette and one of the items I am looking at purchasing is a set of Leaf Spring Liners. How do these judge? I know that I have read that Quanta Liners judge well, but hate to place an additional order for just these. Thanks

Re: 66 Leaf Spring Liners
Nick,
Comparing the profile of the repops to the original the originals have heavier longer legs that trap the spring leaf. Would they judge any different......... the judge would be unreasonable to make deducts since the difference is not noteable unless the two are side by side...... in my opinion.- Top

Re: 66 Leaf Spring Liners
Nick,
I just received a set of liners from LIC. Here are a couple of shots of them beside an original. They are pretty close, not perfect but close. On my original one leg is different width. I have no idea why? The inside width is virtually identical between the repop and original. They seem to fit the spring fine.

Re: 66 Leaf Spring Liners
Eaton Detroit will sell their liners by the foot. I bought theirs and compared it to liners from the original spring I was restoring. I could not tell the difference in any respect including thickness and configuration of the "I" beam dimensions. Theirs will come in one long length that you will need to cut and you will have to put in the indentation cuts at the middle of each leaf. You will also need to put in the hole for the bolt. I made a template which was clamped to each section using the bolt hole to get the location and cut each with a sharp knife to the template and they came out perfect.

Re: 66 Leaf Spring Liners
I put my spring back together tonight, with the holes and the slots cut it only took a few minutes, I still have to grind the center bolt to the correct length. Here are some before after shots of the spring. Note: I think this an F40 spring which is not correct for my car. The ride height was right on the car prior to the restoration so I just live with it for now. If I decide to have my car judges I'll have to change it. IMO the gray paint that LIC sells is a bit too light. Photo #3 shows what was left of the original paint.
Does anyone know what the center bolt should be torqued to?
