I have been talking to several platers to cad plate some parts on my 63 convertible. I used two different platers for previous parts, and was unhappy with the results from both. After some research, I came across and spoke at length with Advanced Finishing Systems in Hayes VA. The owner (Chris Green) seemed to be very knowledgeable about my particular problem and said he had solutions for it. But it's a pig in a poke. Has anyone used them? If so, were you satisfied? My particular problem was the door latch mechanism. After I bead blasted them myself, and had them plated, within a year, before I even put them back on the car, they started to rust and discolor under the plating, on the nose piece that sticks out from the door. The joints where the front flat piece are staked to the horizontal pieces is the source of the discoloration. Any help or advise will be appreciated.

Re: Cadmium Plating Problem
I've never used the one you referenced. If you don't get a satisfactory reference, try Beringer Plating. The did all my 60
Cad plating and I am very pleased with everything.Don Harris

Re: Cadmium Plating Problem
Check some of the platers that do certified aircraft parts.. They have to meet FAA specs and can do gold or silver. I recently had all of my aircraft engine hardware done in gold irridite at United Plating in Tulsa and it came out like new.- Top
