    7 leaf spring for a 74

I have a 74 LS4 with a 7 leaf spring. One of the previous owners had taken apart the spring, repainted it black, and removed the liners.

I have now taken it back apart and applied what Paragon has said is the correct color grey. I also ordered a new bolt and liners.

The liners arrived and they are two different sizes one group being longer than the other. Needless to say, I have to cut them. My problem is I do not know what length to cut them to.

Can someone tell me the lengths to cut them?
Do I put a liner between each spring?
Do I leave the center bolt the length it came or do I cut it to a certain length?
what is the torque of the center bolt?

    Thank you

    Todd

      Todd,

It looks to me like what you have is a 9-leaf spring that's missing one of the top three leaves. Also there should not be a liner between the shortest arched leaf and the next straight leaf.

Oh man, for a LS-4 it is supposed to be 7 leaf.
Here are one of the many pitfalls of having a car which someone or a bunch of people have had their hands on.
So does anyone have a picture of a 7 leaf set up for a 74?

          Todd,

Check out the 7-leaf photos on the website for America's Finest Corvettes (http://www.corvetteusa.com/monthlysp.html). It's part AFC815. They have what it perhaps the best repro 7-leaf spring being sold. I have no connection with them, so that's just my opinion.

Thanks Gary, it looks like America's Finest Corvettes is who I will be going with.
