I'M trying to find an orginal windshield and driver door glass for my '96 with a late December '95 build date. Here is a picture of a what is advertised to be a '95 parts car:
Here are pictures of the logos and date codes for the windshield and doors. I need verification that these are November '95 and October '95 date codes.
I'm 99% sure I have decoded these pieces of glass correctly but I just want a few other knowledgable people such as yourself to verify them for me before I commit to buying them. The reason I am doubting myself just a bit is that this car is advertised to be a '95 and it has a '95 front bumper but these dates codes appear to be Oct and Nov of '95 which would be perfect for my '96 with a late Dec '95 build date. I decode these dates to be:
YY-3 = Oct '95
CY-3 = Nov '95
I'm looking for some comfort that I have decoded these correctly. Since this car was bought from an insurance company on a bill of sale, I am theorizing that it is actually a '96 that was obtained by the insurance company as a theft recovery.
Thanx

Floyd, the two date codes of YY are shown in the 94-96 NCRS Judging Manual as applicable to October 1995 and CY is shown as app liable to November 1995.
Any chance of looking at the build sticker on the Corvette in question?
>> Maybe the glass in the donor car isn't original to that car?
This is highly unlikely. The date codes are all very close and it's factory orginal glass - not GM service replacement. The only reason the model year of the car matters to me is that it was cuasing me to question whether I had decoded the glass correctly. I'm now positive that the glass is all perfect for my car. The car is most likely a '96 that had a '95 bumper put on it.

Nope. The reason the current owner (who purchased the car from the insurance co.) can't get it retitled is due to vin tampering. It looks like the bumper was replaced with a '95 and the car was repainted. All the VIN lables are gone. I susspect the car is a theft recovery - which is why it was sold by an insurance co. on a bill of sale. The current owner is now forced to part the car out.
