Ignition Switch
I am installing dash wiring harness and could not locate home for ignition switch light (grey wire w/ black plastic recepticle). Realized my after market switch did not have a light socket. Looking at suppliers the only supplier was LIC that supplied the switch with a light socket. They stated that the switch does not have a push key option that will turn to aux option. Should mine be able to turn to aux position and if so is there a source for this part?

Walter - The ignition switch that you are looking for is the original Delco-Remy, GM p/n 1116673, that was installed at Production. This ignition switch had the original design feature that required the key to be pushed-in when turning the switch to the ACCESSORY position as spelled out in the Operating Instructions of the Corvette 1966 Owner's Guide. Michael - I remember the thread. Thanks for bringing up the reference, it was a good read again.
There is one addition & that involves the 67 Corvette ignition switch, p/n 1116686 (embossed 686), & that is the that the 686 installed in Production had 2 brass pins in the ignition lock cylinder bore so the operation was as described in the 1967 Corvette Owner's Manual. The 1116673 ignition switch used in 1966 Corvette Production also had this 2 brass pin design feature & the operation to push in the key to turn to the ACCESSORY position & the operation of these two ignition switches were basically the same & the operation of the 673 is as described in the 1966 Corvette Owner's Guide.
At some time the p/n 1116686 ignition switch was redesigned, but it was still embossed embossed 686. The configuration of the redesigned switch eliminated one of the brass pins & by doing this it is no longer necessary to push in on the key when turning to the ACCESSORY position. This reconfigured switch became the SERVICE replacement for both the 1966, p/n 1116673, & the p/n 1116686 1967 Corvette ignition switches that had the 2 brass pins.
Unfortunately, newer isn't better if you are planning to do PV.

There just so happens to be one of these for sale on e-bay (251203270211) for $169 at the moment, including a photo that shows just the one pin. An NCRS buyer might be greatly disappointed once he/she finds out how it works.
