Re: Camshaft part number identification
I have a GM Corvette parts book that covers 53 through 78 and no such number exists.
If it's 3736098, the book shows this as the cam identification number for part number 3736097.
Fits 1957 to 1961 with high lift cam.
Also 1962 to 1963 with fuel injection, also sp. H/Per (i.e, 340 hp)- Top

Re: Camshaft part number identification
The engine is a 1963 as confirmed by casting numbers at the block bell housing area 3782870 (1962 / 1963) and F 253 (June 25, 1963) . Heads are 3782461 and K293 (Nov. 29, 1963). The engine was originally in a boat with a 4 barrel carb. which is probably just interesting!?!??! The engine is torn down and looks like it was rebuilt since the pistons and con rod caps are scribed to assure correct reassembly. I am trying to determine its origin/configuration.- Top

Re: Camshaft part number identification
If any camshaft with casting number 3736088 ever existed, it was never used in a passenger car and I have no information on it. I strongly suspect the actual number is 3736098. That would make it a GM #3736097 camshaft assembly which is the "Duntov" camshaft used for 1957-63 SHP Corvette engines. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
