65 FI Engine Pad Stamp Real?

Hello again. Found a 65 Vet Fuelie that I am looking at, and would appreciate any opinions on the Engine Pad stamp, as shown on the attached photo. Looking at all other stampings I have gathered online, the characters all seem correct. My only problem is that the stamp looks too new for a 48 year old car. Any thoughts on the broach marks and stamp itself? Thank you in advance, Steve

Compared to the engine stamp on my original 65, in the VIN the "5" & "7" are different than mine and on the assembly stamp the "2", "9" & "H" are different. I don't like the broach marks either but I'm not an expert. I'd be very suspicious.

First off I am not an expert. There are many more people who will chime in that have way more experience then me. I can tell you that compared to my F0212HN stamp on my car (which has been looked at by more then one knowledgeable NCRS member and verified as original) the "F", "2", "I" and the "H" are not the same as mine. Agree also that the broach marks are suspicious and "to new". I have attached a pic of my stamp pad. I have since cleaned the pad up a bit but do not have a picture on my computer yet.

Is it just me or do other people have a problem uploading pictures? I will try again.

          Steve,
I've been told by someone a lot more knowlegable than I that the 9 in the assembly stamp is not correct as Jim says.
It's been called a Tonowanda 9. The pad looks awfully feresh but I suppose it could have had paint protecting it for many of the past 48years.

Re: 65 FI Engine Pad Stamp Real?

Thank you very much to all 3 of you who have given me a much better idea now. I thought the stamping looked very suspicious, and was hesitant to make an offer on the car, without hearing from people here with more knowledge and experience than myself.

My search for a nice, but affordable 65-67 convertible will continue.

            Have a great week,

            Steve
