    Another question? Steering damper shock

Painted Gray, markings: 4975447 plaicell 253 75 (stamped down arrow)Bottom(stamped down arrow)
Delco Products Dayton Ohio USA. Is this correct for an early 63 swc? Thanks for any help.

    Jack------

If by "correct" you mean is it original, the answer is no. As a matter of fact, the 4975447 part number did not even exist in 1963. It came along much later. This shock was manufactured on the 253rd day of 1975. So, it's a Delco SERVICE replacement shock but I'm sure it's functionally correct for your application.

Jack , I believe painted gray is correct for 63. as for the date It appears to be Dated 253 day of 1975. Jack I think that a judge would be hard pressed to find the date while laying on the floor. Its kind of like looking for a dated shock absorber. can't be done, at least not easily. I believe that the configuration is one of the things they generally are looking for. If the date for some reason is caught it is 20% deduct. Surely not worth more that a point or two.

Will this part meet NCRS judging guidelines? Thank you very much, James
