    Stripping Question

Just finished the 1st pass of stripping my 66 with Captain Lee's stripper, seems to have gone pretty good but I have some question about the next steps. See below pictures of front end and driver door. I'm not sure how to handle the dark grey layer, tried to remove with acetone but didn't make a dent, is this a primer? Also, I found some white clay like material on the car, not sure what this is but should it come off? If so, how do I remove it?

    Jim,

Next step is to let the bare body bake in the sun for a week or so to make sure the stripping chemicals are dissipated out of the fiberglass.

      Re: Stripping Question

If it were my project I would apply more stripper and clean it up some more, it has to come clean one way or another. The white material was probably spot putty or filler, the gray is another primer material.

What Gary and Scott offered are great suggestions...more stripper...sun and wash...wash...wash! This will help neutrilze the stripper.

Try some lacquer thinner instead of acetone. But, yea, more stripper.
