I was wondering what you guys think about the repop AC fuel pumps as far as judging and reliability goes. I restored my original 69 pump and that's what I installed but I'm concerned about how long it might last. I'd feel much better with one of the current repops as long as they pass judging. Thanks

Re: Reproduction L36 AC Fuel pumps
Greg,
When you say restored the original what was done to the pump. IMO, If the crimp does not leak fuel it should last a long time. It's a good idea to carry a fire extinguisher in the car but that advice holds true for all of us with these old cars.- Top

Re: Reproduction L36 AC Fuel pumps
Tim, Because the pump was in working condition, it was purely a cosmetic restoration. I cleaned the casting with mag wheel etching cleaner and replated the stamped parts with my Caswell kit. Nothing foreign entered the pump but I'm sure that some day the diaphragm or check valves may fail and I just know that it won't be in the garage when that happens.- Top
