    Bonneville 2013

After a disappointing engine failure in 2012, Dave Gray, KC Strawmyre, and Mike McCagh returned to Bonneville this week in an effort to break the 200 mph barrier with their '56 Corvette. Today on the first run on a very slippery track, Dave ran 200.6 mph and they feel tomorrow they could reach 210 with a drier track.

Wow! This is incredible. And to think it took a new ZR1 for me to join the 200 mph club!

Did they ever publish what went wrong with the engine last year? They were going to tell us when they got the engine apart.

Dan...if I recall correctly, they spun three bearings...mainly due to lack of oil circulation, this year they added a dry sump oil system and I believe some baffles to correct the problem.

If they spun bearings they are lucky it did not explode on them. At 200 MPH that could have been very traumatic. They must have shut it down just in the nick of time.
