Early 64 Coil & Leaf Spring

Still looking for someone with an unrestored early production 64 with standard suspension. I want to know how far in production the 64's used 63 suspension.

It should be easy to tell the rear spring as it will have all curved leaves. No flat top leaves.

The coil springs mat have a part number tag or possibly a paint stripe for ID.

I e-mail your post to a guy in our club that has an unrestored '64, hope he will reply.

Thanks Dale. If it's an early production 64, it should have 63 front and rear springs. I'm still trying to learn when the change to the new "progressive" 64 springs occurred.

I am Dales friend and do have an early 64 that is very original 48,000 miles. The rear springs have the curl on top an the end of each leaf. The front springs are rusty and I do not see a stripe but the green tags are still there with part # 3851100. I need to know what color of glass was used on the 64 was it tan or black pressed. This also has the front lower valance glass is green pressed. This does not appear to have ever been repaired or been apart.

Michael, My friend's car may not be early enough. I believe its a December build. I have a 327 production (3/27) production date. I see there is nothing in our judging manuals regarding this.

My Oct 8 64 has grey glass.

I know you wanted a standard suspension, but my 10/8/64 has a 7 leaf rear spring, and all edges appear to be curled. The front springs do not appear to be progressive. All of this is original to the best of my knowledge.

Thanks Joe. Sounds like you have the 64 springs. The car was probably assembled after the change.

Thanks Dale. I can only guess at the point in production when the change to 64 suspension occurred. Probably happened in the first month or two of 64 production?

Thanks Paul. The F40 front and rear springs for 64 would be the same as 63. No change that I remember. I know the part number remained the same for all 63-67's.
