    Re: Timing Light

Kevin, I just went through this a few months ago myself. I'd been using an old craftsman light that worked just fine for a lot of years. After reading about how great the dial back lights were I started looking on Ebay for one. Got lucky and found a snap on light that had been well taken care of. It had even been completely serviced by snap on before the owner put it up for sale. wouldn't want to go back to a "regular" light at this point even though I don't use it that much. My 2 cents......

Craftsman also made/makes a dial-back timing light. I've had one for about 30 years.

I just picked up an Innova 3568 . It's a dial-back with a built in tach. Makes it simple to map your timing curve. http://www.equus.com/Product/3568/IN...l-Timing-Light

I was going to recommend my Craftsman Dial-Back timing light, but based on looking at the website, it's long since been discontinued and replaced by a digital piece that looks nothing like what I have. I guess things change huh?

          Good luck with the search/decision.

It looks like a lot of us bought that Craftsnan dial-back light back in the day. Back whan there were USA made quality tools.

I have had no need to look, but I would think dial-back timing lights ought to be readily available on eBay or Craig;s List. Pretty much only us old car nuts have any use for them now days.

For some of us guys still running points, I found a dial back with a tach and dwell all in the same unit. Not sure if this Equus model 3568 is still available

It is one of their current models and available everywhere. I bought mine last month.

Jim, I dont think the 3568 has the dwell mode anymore for setting the points

Check out the Equus 5568--timing (that includes advance timing), tach, dwell, voltage--in one package. It's what I have and it works well.

I don't believe it ever had it. If you want to add dwell and voltage read outs, you need to upgrade to the 5568. https://www.iequus.com/Product/5568/...ng-Light-(DIS)
