    72 heater core pipe clamp

72 coupe 350 with A/C - just replaced heater core. I can see where a clamp would attach to hold the copper pipes that come out of the heater core. My car is missing this clamp (core appears to have been serviced before I got the car). Is anyone familiar with this clamp - what it looks like - and how I might find one.
    Thanks

My 1972 AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) is not handy, but if I had a 1972 Corvette, and was working on it, I would look in my copy of the AIM to see if there is such a clamp, and the drawing might give some idea of the shape. One might have to look in the C60 section of the AIM.

I did the heater core on my a/c 74' a few years ago and I know the clamp you are missing. Sorry no picture but as I recall the clamp was copper colored and has the shape of the number 3 with, as I recall one attachment bolt in the middle between the two water pipes. I think you could fabricate one from flat stock maybe .060 thick and perhaps a half inch wide.

No picture to show you as my '72 is on the ground now, but Robert has it right. The clamp is shaped loosely like a wing nut, or a "3". It is about 5/8" wide, the flat surface in the middle is jus slightly narrower than the space between the pipes. It is held in place bt a 1/2" long bolt that goes thru a hole in the center of the clip. Both are shown in the AIM I believe.

Thanks for the good advice - assumed I would need to fabricate a part - now I know what to do.

Wrong part, needs the clamp that stabilizes the core inlet and outlet tube. Shaped like the 3 others describe
