Anybody have an extra screw that holds the steering wheel on? After completing a turn signal project I seem to have lost one darn screw. Thanks in advance Terry

Re: 61/62 Steering Wheel Screw
I believe that the 6 screws that hold the 1961-1962 steering wheel in place are probably the same ones that were used on early 1963 models, GM # 769611, which as best as I can remember are 10-24 X 1/2" Phillips flat head machine screw. The 769611 screw was replaced by the 9418712 screw in January 1963 (revision record in AIM).

Re: 61/62 Steering Wheel Screw
As I recall, yes, and CC has made a flat-head machine screw for many years whose plain head looks just like a rivet to re-assemble a hub and wheel that have previously been separated.- Top

Re: 61/62 Steering Wheel Screw
John,
you are correct. The originals are 6 flat-head countersunk rivets stainless steel, peened on the back side of the hub flange into a domed shape. CC has sold replacements that were similar in appearance on the steering wheel surface, threaded, with nuts that retain it to the hub flange, which is extremely difficult to detect once installed.- Top
