69 Door Lock Orientation

I'm pretty sure that I know the answer but I'd just like to confirm it... Which way should the exterior door locks be orientated for the key to go in, with the key cuts at the bottom or top?

Pete, I think the lock cylinders are left and right also ? If switched they will lock and unlock in the wrong direction. JM may spell it out for you.

Ed - You are correct that there are right & left door lock assemblies, i.e., the lock cylinder with the pawl attached. While the '69 Corvette & other year door lock cylinder assemblies are identical, there are right & left pawls. Pete
