    54 wiper motor seal?

Is there supposed to be any kind of gasket or seal between the motor and firewall? I dont remember back 20 years when I removed it. Go figure. Thanks again! Also, are some of the firewall grommets that come from CC required to be drilled to fit certain size penetrations?

Guy, There wasn't a gasket or seal on the one I just removed, only the metal mounting bracket was between the motor and the firewall. and there wasn't anything between the mounting plate and the body. I've attached a pic. Eric IMG_0102.jpg

there is no gasket between the motor and the 'glass
the grommets should fit in their holes with no issues......

Eric, your's has previously been removed as the mounting plate is painted. Looks like someone repainted your engine compartment blackout.

Seems to me there is a rubber insulator strip between the tang on the back of the motor and the engagement of the pulley on mounting plate to avoid metal to metal contact between those two moving parts.

Yes, I'm aware it has been repainted but the mounting plate didn't appear to have been removed and there wasn't a seal between it and the fiberglass when I removed it. I don't recall seeing an insulator between the motor and plate but it could have been there. There wasn't one between the motor and plate on my 56 caddy either.

there is a small cardboard insulator between the the motor and the plate - shaped like the tang ....rectangle....
