Aftermarket Air Conditioning
I am just finishing up a 1963 SWC and, since I would like to bring it to Florida, am considering an aftermarket AC set up. My car has a 340 HP engine. I have seen some ads from Vintage Air and Old Air Products. Would appreciate any recommendations as to the best unit to purchase and whether anyone is pleased or displeased with the units. Are there any other companies that make these units? Any other info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

While waiting for answers here, go to Corvette Forum C1/C2 Section and search their archives. This topic comes up once or twice each year on that site, for about the last 10 years or so. There is a LOT of info there to help you. You can also search this TDB for similar info, but generally our archives will have less info regarding non-original parts or add ons.

I installed Vintage Air in a '63 swc 340 hp a few years ago and found it great. It worked well and the installation was fairly easy to do,about two days.The best part was the fact that it ran from the existing dash heater controls and could be removed easily because there were no permanent modifications to the car. Relocating the alternator to the left side of the engine was probably the biggest thing because you need a different mounting bracket.Good luck.Comment

I used vintage air in 68 camaro convertible I live in fl. on real hot days it could be a little better. I think if it were in a hard top or in a vette convertible it would be perfect.
Installation wasn't bad for what all ya do but well worth time and moneyComment
