    2014 Vette

Hi, Brad here, it has been a while, with cars all done it is hard to get back here and check in. Has anyone bought a new vette and how do you like it? pros and cons. Best friend just ordered one red loaded and more options. One month out they say. It is strange they don't have any brochures on them. Best to you all.

Right, didn't they say some would be delivered "before the end of the third quarter"?

There are a few on the CF that have received theirs.

          Re: 2014 Vette

I just spent three days at the Corvette Museum with Tom Hill, Plant Quality Manager, Harlan Charles, RWD Lux Marketing Manager, and David Tatman, Corvette Plant Manager and about 500 close personal friends. All were singing the same song, and I think they might know. In fact the statement they made was: "No salable cars have been shipped." There are around 200 to 300 C7s in the Captured Test Fleet and those cars are out there, but they are only supposed to be in the hands of GM employees. That is their story and they are sticking to it.

There is an areal photo of the shipping yard over on Corvette Forum in the C7 section and you can see the cars staging in the lot. The story of the above Chevrolet employees was they expect shipments of coupes to dealers to begining in several weeks if nothing goes wrong. Convertibles will be by the end of the year. Again -- their story; I am only repeating what they said.

I guess those that are posting the delivery dates of receiving their cars, all within the last 2 weeks, are full of *****. Not that it matters. The C-7 will most likely be the last generation of the Corvette. Any "bean counter" will show that sales figures that are the lowest in over 50 years will dictate the end.

Gm folks were at this weekend's Baltimore Grand Prix and NO cars for 2014 have been delivered as yet. They are still having "some problems" is what Doug Fehan mentioned when he talked to the crowd about the racing program and what has been "transferred" into the C7.

Doug must have traveled fast. He was at the Hall of fame awards banquet Thursday evening -- Johnny O was inducted into the Corvette Hall of Fame as was Werner Myer and Wil Cooksey, both of the latter are NCRS members.

The demise of the Corvette has almost happened two or three times in the past. No one can predict the future, but don't give up on it yet. I have a feeling the C7 will sell like hotcakes unless the economy takes another dump. Tom Hill said they already have 6 to 7 thousand confirmed orders.

No cars have been delivered as of today. We had cars with July build dates at first and then they were all pushed back. I would think at some point later this month we should see the first units begin to roll. HOPEFULLY.

My best friend ordered and has already traded his Porsche in. We are going to pick up at factory. They just gave us his vin # 0086 but have not told us when to pick up. they tell us if we have vin the car is built. He is in touch with gm, he had to fax if he wanted inscription on some plate. Laguna blue loaded. we think we are close but rumors of glitch might be slowing down release.
17 hour drive home but can't wait. (told him to order tires now)
will let you know when we get our date.

He must be at Production Code 3800, 4000, 4B00, or 4D00. Some of my friends tell me that some of the early VIN cars, below 300 or so, had to be retrofitted for some components, and would be delayed and higher VINs ready and shipped first.

Every one of the 2014's I have seen around here in Detroit have had VIN's under 300 and are part of the captured test fleet. I can't believe that these cars would be sold as new to customers. I was under the impression that they would be crushed. Do these cars have special VIN's and production cars start at 001 over again?

                          Jeff,

According to Tom Hill, at the NCM 19th Anniversary celebration, the captured test fleet cars (he said there were 200 to 300 of those) would be brought up to production specifications as necessary and auctioned as used cars at dealer auctions. The pre-production cars have VINS that ended in EX -- those will be donated to museums or crushed. He didn't say how many of those there are.

Wife's cousin husband has been notified that his car should be released for delivery next week. He has chosen a Museum delivery will add updates when I receive them.

My daily commute in on I-65 north of Bowling Green. I'm out there twice a day. As of this morning, I have seen exactly one north bound transporter with a load of C7s and that was before Labor Day.
