    1965 Horn Switch

I reassembled the steering column and reinstalled the steering wheel hub, horn switch, etc. The horn will not work after replacing the turn signal canceling cam. The horn contact plunger does or is not protruding out far enough to make contact with the horn button contact foot. Is there a possibility that I put the spring loaded plunger in backwards? Everything work prior to replacing the canceling cam. This a non telescopic column.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks,

    James,

Did you put the contact in from the top, the flange seats in the hub, the extended copper inner part goes in first.

      Tim,

I have not completely disassembled/removed the steering wheel hub as of yet. I believe that the I did put it in from the top or steering wheel side of the cam. Something else that I have noticed is that the steering wheel hub spline are not flush or even with the end of the steering shaft. The steering shaft is a out one eighth of an inch below the shaft end. Would this keep the horn contact from making contact with the contact ring?

      Thanks,

      James West

        James,
If I recall correctly the repair manual covers the assembly. Maybe that would answer your issue with a picture to clear things up.
