New radiator recommendations

My 67 L71 radiator is leaking a little, maybe a cup,every 2 weeks. At last judging, I remember it was docked for having incorrect markings. This BB likes to overheat and pewk coolant on hot days during stop and go and prolonged idling as I understand many do. I know the fan clutch is bad; spins 4-5x after turn off even when hot.

My question is: if I were to replace the radiator, is there a new model that would be proper for this car and also pass judging as well as offer more efficient cooling? Or is this asking too much?

Or could/should I just keep the current one and repair/recondition it to pass judging and offer better cooling? If so, who?

I believe you'll find many NCRS members will recommend Tom DeWitt for either restorations or new radiators that will perform and judge well. He's in the Driveline, and at the following link: http://www.dewitts.com.

Yes, that's asking too much. However, you have good options.

Obtain a replacement core from DeWitts and use your existing tanks. This will give you a virtually exactly correct unit that will cool exactly the same as when your car was new. That will almost certainly be better than what your existing radiator has degraded to after years of use. You can obtain the core and have a local radiator shop do the tank exchange. Or, you can have DeWitts do it all.

Another option is a DeWitts Direct Fit aluminum radiator. This radiator will not be exactly correct in several details. However, painted black, it will be "close" to original in many respects. It will cool quite a bit better than your original radiator even when it was new.
