69 cross member bushings

I am starting the rebuild of the drive train and the first part to go on the frame is the rear cross member. I bought two cross member bushings from Paragon and before I installed them in the cross member I tried the fit of the bushings on the frame. The bushings have some small play in them and it bothers me. When I took the cross member off the frame I had to use a 6' pry bar. Will these bushings compress somehow when installed or are the bushings the wrong fit and I need to find others?

Richard,

Could it be the new bushing is not tightened down far enough to the sombrero, it's supposed to be a interference fit and I think it's tapered.

I haven't installed it yet. Just dry fit. so it is not tightened down. But when "dry fit" it bottomed on the sombrero and still had some play from side to side.

When the bushings have 1400# of weight on them, there won't be any play.
