Seem there are a lot of unhappy Corvette owners about the new C7 tailights not being round and breaking from tradition.Personally I think they look great. Why was there no fuss or displeasure over the first C4 ZR1. Those tailamps were square if anything and Chevrolet loved them so much they were standard on all C4s the following year. If you look at the Camaro the tailamps on the new car are far different. In fact the 68 Corvette had that same recessed dashboard the 67 Camaro had and no one complained about that. I think the designers did a great job on the C7 and I am sure Chevrolet will sell a bunch of them.

Re: C7 tailights
Saw the C7 for the first time in person last weekend. It is beautiful. Wish I had more time to take it for a spin. The only thing i might prefer is that some of the vents, false or other wise , be painted to match body color.
Pictures do not do it justice IMO.

Bill,
I spoke to Harlan Charles, Corvette Product and Marketing Manager, a couple weeks ago when he was at the Motor City Corvette Concours (Dearborn, MI) with a maroon C7. I mentioned how I thought the contrasting vent trim took away from the car, especially when the car's body is light in color, and I asked if there were any plans to offer the trim in body color. As a Marketing man should say, his reply was a question; "would you like it more if the trim was body color?" After a short discussion about how GM liked the carbon fiber look and how I preferred a more uniform appearance, I felt like he listened and would take the feedback to work. I suggested that the aftermarket vendors might beat GM to the punch if GM doesn't act. Time will tell...Don Lowe

Re: C7 tailights
I agree! My all-time favorite Corvette taillights were on my '58. Just a great look. Nobody would call them round! And what other car in the history of the automobile has allowed you to check your taillights and brake lights from the driver's seat?- Top

Re: C7 tailights
Ever since the C7 was introduced I've been hearing that you have to see one in the flesh/pictures do not do it justice. Well, last evening I was heading north on I-75 just a few miles into Michigan when a grey one caught up with and passed me. I was lucky enough to see it coming and got an eyefull. Wow!! I love that car coming or going, tail lights included.

Re: C7 tailights
Those of you who don't like the contrasting vents should get a black car, like mine. The vents and taillight surround are body color black already, I don't have to change anything....Attached Files- Top

Look at an ad for the current Nissan/Datsun Z car , or whatever they call it. For rear 3/4 view C7 Corvette looks almost like it, . but Holy Bowling Green!, the Nissan has 4 round tail lights!- Top

Re: C7 tailights
I was at Barrett Jackson in Las Vegas last weekend and there was a large display of all white Vettes from all generations. The product rep made it clear that for the line to survive they had to break the notion that this would just be another Corvette to sell to existing owners. They used a lot of late 20 to 30 years old engineers to go out and see what the next generation of sports car lovers wanted. I was sort of surprised but it makes sense. Maybe this will be a step in the right direction to get younger people interested in our cars..... Well maybe!!Pete Bergmann

Re: C7 tailights
Realizing automobile style is personal, "money talks and 'other things' walk" as they say. Look at prices of C1's and C2's compared to C3's and up (unless we're talking rare engine-L88, L89, LT-1, ZR-1) and form you're own opinion on which ones are and will be regarded as classics.- Top
