where in my glovebox(instrument tray) is the lamp supposed to go? (no detailed pics to reference) and if I am missing the lamp and switch where could I find one? I have the service manual and ncrs book but it just says center. I assume its supposed to be right behind the lock catch , any advise is appreciated thank you.

Re: 1963 glove box light question
Adam,
The method of assembly and parts used are shown in the 63 assembly manual. These books are available from all of the usual Corvette part reproduction houses (Paragon, Corvette Central, Long Island, etc) and are invaluable in restoration of an old Corvette. You can also get the switch, bulb and shield from the reproduction house while your at it. Most of these suppliers have on-line catalogues and deliver quickly. Some of the catalogues have exploded views of the assembly, so, you will will be able see what parts you need and and approximately where they go.
Note that two different lamps were used in 63, depending on the date the car was manufactured. The NCRS Judging guide will help you determine which one you need. Its likely that the parts used on early cars are not available in a supplier catalog, so you may have to find them, if you're having the car judged. Otherwise the available parts will work on any date car.- Top
