    427 rear cam journal

What changes were made in the rear cam bearing from the early cam with a groove to the later ungrooved cam?

The early big block (65-66) rear cam bearing was grooved around its inner circumference at the middle of the bearing. The later (67-74) was not grooved.

Here's the groove that Joe mentions (on the cam journal), and the corresponding groove and feeder hole and groove in the block bearing. In this case, the hole in the bearing is not perfectly lined up with the hole in the block.
