I'm starting to go through buckets of bolts and ran across these two welded 1963 spare tire bolts which have different heads. Were the bolt heads different due to late and early or OTC? Any helpis appreciated. Thanks Joe

Re: 1963 Welded spare tire bolt question.
Joe,
I may corrected here but I believe the bolts are just like the 67 bolts in style and length except the headmarkings. I think you are correct that there are early/late headmarkings in 1963.- Top

Re: 1963 Welded spare tire bolt question.
Joe,
I think you will find that the 63 late bolts are the ones with the round head and the welded nut. Later bolts 65-67 had the squared off heads and no nut but stepped and threaded with a lock washer.
There were at least 4 and maybe five different spare tire bolts from 63 to 67.
Early 63 bolts were totally different with a nut forged into the head of the bolt with a nut not welded on. The earliest 63 I have had was in the 8000 range and it did not have the earliest 63 bolt design.
Hope this helps and doesn't confuse (much).
