        Scott,

You can send me an email by clicking on my name in any post I have made. That is the same way I or any other me member on this site can send you an email by clicking on your name.

Your ignition and door locks should operate from the same key. Your storage compartment and tire lock should operate from the same key, as well as the alarm lock. That is if no one has changed any of them.

Did the locksmith make the key using the numbers on the side of the storage compartment lock? If he used another method it is possible the key he made is not quite accurate enough to operate all the locks. If your tire lock is missing the rubber boot it may be full of debris. Tha alarm lock is notorious for this as well. What is the letter stamped on the side of the key he made for you? Will that key go into either or both of the locks?
        Terry

            Re: Key problem

Scott, As Terry states about the locksmiths making the key correctly for the rear compartment lock, Is true, they may have a few tricks up there sleeve. but the correct way is to dissay the lock cylinder and the tumblers are numbered in each position which makes it easier to make a key. There are a couple of guys on the TDB that can make you a couple of NOS keys and read your lock cylinders correctly. If you need there info let me know with a PM.

              Re: Key problem

              Scott,

It could be informative to remove the lock cylinder from your storage compartment lock to see if the code numbers are present, since the numbers are sometimes present, but sometimes not. It is quite easy to remove that lock cylinder, and in fact is the only one of your locks that can be disassembled without any real locksmith skills. All you need is a paper clip, but the trick it the key must not be used. Unfortunately, it's easier to show someone how to to it, than it is to describe in words. Let me know if you are interested and I can talk you thru the steps.

Do you have any paperwork showing a key #?

Gas cap is aftermarket. Originals are not locking. Oval head key should open spare tire lock, but corrosion could be the problem looking at the picture...

                      Re: Key problem

Hey Gary, thanks for responding. I will pull that lock this evening when I get home and check to see if the code is on there. I am talking to another NCRS member about sending the spare lock to him to check it out as well. I will post results this evening.
