    1960 front sway bar?

The front sway bar has a slight curvature in the ends. Does this go up or down?

Also what is the best way to compress the front suspension to install the links?

    Thanks, Steve

If you have the engine out and and the body off, you really can't attach the long bolt the the lower A arm and the bar. Look in your AIM section 3 sheet 2.00, you can see the correct orientation of the bar. I also attached a picture of my 1960. Leave everything loose, particularly at the rubber bushings where the bar mounts to the frame until you have all the weight on everything (engine and body installed and the suspension settled). Then you can finish installing the long bolt between the bar and the lower A frame and tighten and torque the mounts on the frame.

The curvature near each end of the bar goes UP.

Thanks Tom, that's what I needed to know. Now I get to practice taking it out and putting it back in.

Yes I always wait until weighted with everything and attach the top of the link.

After one side is on and just finger tight, if it doesn't reach and difficult to get the rubber bushings and washers on the other side, use a floor jack under the lower control arm to bring the link bolt up a bit higher into the sway bar end. If still not enough, grab the bar and pull down as there may be a little give from the opposite side, or try to lower the opposite side to bring the bar down a bit.

BTW, I also wait before tightening the rear strut rod(torsion bar/drag link) attach bolts until the car is fully assembled and has a normal weight. This will ease the strain on the bushings.
