Re: Anyone know this car?
That's a beautiful car; I love the color combo.
It has the late-1970 dirstributor shielding (correct for his VIN) that matches '71; the driver-side valve cover should be reinstalled with the oil fill at the rear and the PCV at the front; not sure what's been done to the intake manifold to give it that almost-glossy appearance.
Oh, and no, I don't know the car, but I'd love to take it for a drive.- Top

Re: Anyone know this car?
That's my understanding; though I did see a '70 LT-1 once that had the PCV hose routed around the back of the carb before it made the (relatively) long run to connect to the valve in the forward-most valve cover hole. That installation appeared very awkward, and I doubt it was done that way at the factory.- Top

Re: Anyone know this car?
You are going to make me look, but I am pretty sure the LT1 PCV hose passes to the front of the carburator. Seems like a lot of folks want to route it through the engine lift hook on the driver's side front of the intake. An installation deduction for sure.Terry- Top

Re: Anyone know this car?
Working from memory = PCV end is molded for most 1970. If the car has NA9 or 1971> there is no molded end. The PCV for those later cars has a plastic T at the PCV and another hose goes to the carbon canister behind the driver's wheel house.Terry- Top

Re: Anyone know this car?
Well this whole excercise is a moot point. I eviddently "wasted the sellers time" I guess I ask for too much information. He said he wouldn't sell it to me. Too bad it looks like a nice car and I am not a tire kicker, but a serious seller should be willing to provide certain information. The car is listed on Ebay. I won't put the seller on the spot by identifying him.- Top

Re: Anyone know this car?
I'm an old man and I have been around the car business my whole life; both retail and wholesale. It's been my experience that when someone gets irritated because you ask questions about what they are trying to sell you; even though you may not know it, there is probably a very good reason why you shouldn't buy it.- Top

Re: Anyone know this car?
The Ebay auction just ended. Based on the final bid, it makes me wonder that this car is not all it seems. I would have expected considerably more interest.

Painted engine pad is not a comforting thing to see on a high $$ "Restoration" Also note the use of typical works like "numbers Matching" rather than "Original Engine". Just a couple of thoughts.Bill Clupper #618- Top
