    65 Conv. Door Alignment

65 Pass door has no gap at the lock side unless a floor jack is placed just in front of the rear wheel and weight taken off of the rear tire. Tire and wheel don't even have to break ground for a perfect gap to appear where there was none (pinch fit). No room to adjust the door forward either. The frame is excellent and solid with no repairs.
Could incorrect shims at the body mounts cause this? Any thoughts out there?

Add some shims to the mount in front of the wheel. You can also remove shims on the rear mount, but you will have to loosen up on bumper mounts to let the body shift.

      Ammon,
How are your door hinge bushings? Won't increase the door gap at top but you need a consistent door close position before you start adding/deleting shims.

No slop or movement at all in the bushings Randy. Just trying to figure out what is hapening when I take a little weight off just in front of that rear wheel.

            Ammon,

I just went thru this on my 66 conv with large door gap on pass side top rear. After replacing the door bushings I did what Wayne suggested. Loosen all the rear bumper brackets. I also removed the spare tire tub so I could get to a jacking surface to raise the body. In my case I added 2 shims to the #4 body mount in order to decrease the gap at the top of the door.

Two shims to the mount in front of the rear wheel seems to have done the trick. Thanks
