    Correct AC-Delco part numbers for 1976 cap/rotor/wires

I have a friend who purchased a 1976 Corvette this summer, and I'll be helping him install new cap, rotor, plugs and wires.

I find that there are two ACDelco part numbers listed for the cap, rotor and wires for the L-48 engine. The wires are 9088S or 9608D, the cap is D336X or D559A, and the rotor is D448X or D468.
Unfortunately I can't see anywhere what the difference between each might be, so that helps me very little in choosing which ones he needs to buy. He's after the best performing of each, and is not worried so much about the correctness.
Does anyone know which of the above might be the best or the most correct?

    Thanks!

Actually, any of the parts you mentioned will work for the application:

The last GM (i.e. OEM) part numbers were as follows:

    wire set: GM #12043740 discontinued

    rotor: GM #1977026 discontinued

    cap: GM #1974408 discontinued

If it were me, I'd use the following:

wire set: GM #19305814, aka Delco 9608D

rotor: GM #19106651, aka Delco D468

cap: GM #89056806, aka Delco D559A

However, the Delco 9088S wire set, D448X rotor, and D336X cap should work OK.

Thanks Joe. Any clue as to how each differs? As noted, none of the references I found were at all helpful.

The problem is at least partially because they were all made in-house at GM in the days before the in-house parts operations were spun off to Delphi, then in many cases allowed to go out of business. Unless you can find true NOS examples of the original parts, it is not likely that today's parts will be identical to the originals, especially given the changes in Secondary Ignition technologies over the last 30 years.

It's a mystery to me. However, from the research I did, it seems to me that the part numbers I recommended are closer to OEM-quality whereas the other part numbers may be aftermarket. I'm not sure on this, though, as both sets of part numbers could be equivalent.
