    C1 1962 Fan Blade Assy.

The 1976 Illustration and Parts catalog in Group 1.064 part number 3770529 is shown for the 61-67 Blade Assy.

According to my local Chevrolet parts person this item is still available. Is this part a reasonable item for my 300 HP? What is different from the original fan?

The GM #3770529 is the fan originally used for your application. The current SERVICE piece may differ from the originals in minor ways like shape of the rivets, embossments, etc. However, absent an absolutely original piece, it's a near-perfect replacement for you. Imagine, a fan under the original part number still being available from GM after 52 years!

I got one a few years ago and it looks great. The only thing I noticed that was slightly different from an original was a pop rivet used for balancing purposes (as it was not holding anything and in one blade). Don't know how or if that might effect judging if that's a concern to you. Dan

Dave - The new fan is an acceptable functional replacement but if you are looking at it from the originality perspective the rivets that secure the fan blades to the center "spider" support on these newer p/n 3770529 fan blade assemblies have are the flat "button" head configuration while the original versions used in the 1961 into 1963 had the round "mushroom" head rivets. I just purchased that fan back in July for my '62. In the photos you can see the pop rivet/ washer used for balancing. Mine has two on separate blades. You can also see the head of the rivets holding the blades are flat. I paid about $61 ( plus $16 s+h to Fla. ) from GMpartsdirect.

Some folks may gripe about the minor differences between the current SERVICE piece and originals. However, once these fans are discontinued, just wait and see how sought-after and high dollar these SERVICE pieces become.

Folks used to complain about the differences between the original C1 and C2 oil pans and those SERVICE pans available after about 1975. Try to buy one of the latter now and see what you have to pay for it.

              Joe,

You hit the nail on the head. I totally agree with your statement. I am far from the point in my restoration of needing the fan. When I saw it was available from GM I immediately ordered it without question.
