c2 rear window flat spacers use or not to use

Putting in 67 rear window and plan on using butyl rubber roll from L.I. corvette. Do you still use the flat spacers? Seems to me where the butyl hits the flat spacer it would make the glass to high. Doing tomorrow so would very much appreciate a response. Steve Lavigne had a 2004 post that implies this but not sure. Help!

    Charles,
I think you will find the rubber spacers position the glass properly so when the stainless trim is installed it fits good with it. The glass may sit too low compared to the trim without the spacers. In fact it could sit crooked.
