53-55 Body Shim Tape Width

Please remind me if the tape that holds the body mount shims in place is 1/2", 5/16" or 1/4"? For some reason I'm thinknig 5/16"

It been too long since I mounted a body to the chassis to recall the correct width. Too old to remember such detail I guess.

I know its not 1/4
it is rather thin
I remember 1/2 being right....

For some reason I have a distant memory that it is between those two and an odd size. That's why 5/16" comes to mind.

You can buy 1/4 and 1/2 these days but I recall having to cut a tape to the correct width because I could not find whatever width I was shooting for. Still I might be wrong.

Here's a photo from an unrestored '53 showing the tape. I neglected to note the width. Using the known size of the nut on the body bolt I tried to scale the width of the tape and got 0.27". Very odd size, but I doubt my scaling attempt was very accurate. 5/16" would be 0.3125". Hopefully someone out there has this documented.
