Can you really replace all your fuel and brake lines on a C3 with the body on?
I have the entire back end off, all the suspension off, and still cant get to all the fasteners!!

I did it on my '72 w/ Auto. The removeable crossmember allows you to put the fuel line in without cutting it and putting a union in. As far as the fasteners go, I made and modified a few wrenches but several were very challanging. When you get them in place all those nice bends will have been altered, especially going up the kick-ups in the back, you'll have to re-bend them into shape and thier nice new finish will be be a little marked up.

So yes, it can be done but I don't think I'd try it that way again if I ever have to tackle the job again. The time invested is probably close or equal to lifting the body a bit. Others willl be able to outline how to lift the body a few inches, since I've never done it, or you can find info in the archives. Good luck!!

hopefully he has an automatic transmission, I believe that 4-speed cars cross members are not removable.

Roy you are correct, I have 70 turbo 400 with removable cross member and a 68 4-speed that is not removable. Sure would make a 4 -speed easier to remove if the 68 did have a removable cross member.
