    C4 rear brake caliper bracket

I'm changing out the rear brake rotors on my 92. The FSM states that when reinstalling the rear break caliper bracket to use new mounting bolts. The mounting bolt is gm part 14084053 but apparently it has been discontinued - I can't find new ones anywhere. First, does anyone know where I might be able to obtain 4 of these bolts new (ideally along with the washers), but secondly is it absolutely necessary to reinstall the bracket with new bolts? At this point I'm inclined to clean the bolts well and reinstall with loctite to the specified torque.

I have a 1985 and a 1996 I will continue to use the original bolts. My cars no longer have a GM warranty. I have read my FSM's and the only reason for new mounting bolts I think is to prevent GM from being sued if a reused bolt came out. There may be other reasons.

I reused them on my 92 five years ago, the car's been on the racetrack for about 30 sessions since then with no failures.

The new bolts are pre-applied with thread locking compound and I believe that's why they instruct to replace them. It's not something unique to Corvettes-----GM specifies the same thing for most of its car lines and models.

In the vast majority of cases, you can reuse the bolts. Make sure that they are scrupulously clean but try to remove as little of the zinc plating as possible in the process. Apply Loctite to the threads using #242 (medium strength locking compound). Torque the bolts per specification and NOT beyond. If the bolts are damaged in any way, you will have to find replacements.

I kind of doubt that these sources will actually have NOS bolts. I expect their database is "corrupted" with obsolete part numbers. However, if one really needs the bolts, I suppose giving a few of them a call might be worthwhile.
