I will not be renewing my memership to the NCRS when it comes due, not that most would probably care. When I joined I wanted 3 things from the memership. First was to find out where my car was originally sold. Second was to have my car judged for a flight award and third to receive the corvette restorer magazines. Well, I paid the fee and did receive the information where the car was sold and that was a good thing.. On the second part of my wish list, since they had judging at BowlingGreen Ky last year, I assumed there would be one there every year. Why, that is where corvettes are made. I have since found out they only have one there every 7 or 8 years, by which then I will be to old. Any other location would be to far for me to go. So being in a show will not happen. They have them in Florida every year but I guess that's because that is a vacation spot with lots of things for the judges to do, where as BowlingGreen has nothing and the judges will not be able to enjoy their after show hours.. Thirdly, I enjoy reading the Corvette Restorer magazine, not the Driveline. The driveline has no interest to me, at least not as much as the restorer. I had thought I would get the restorer six times a year and now find out only four times a year. So, it is not worth the fees since I will not be able to show and would only get four restorers per year.

Re: I will not be renewing my memership
TSB may not be the place for this, but I'm curious, since you did have very clear goals for what you were looking to get out of the membership, what was your plan with the car after you had it flight judged?- Top

Re: I will not be renewing my memership
I'm curious as well, there are many chapter judging events all summer long, have you had your car judge a chapter event yet ? That's a good place to start and learn. After attending a few of these then I would go to a Regional event such as Bowling Green, and yes there are only about 4 regional events a year and NCRS tries to spread them out but a chapter has to apply for the Regional. I hope you change your mind and stick with NCRS.

Re: I will not be renewing my memership
The wealth of information which NCRS has provided over the years has certainly been very helpful and educational to me. However, I have found that one of the real benefits has relatively little to do with Corvettes. Rather it has been the interaction with the people who own these things that has been the real value. If that aspect of the hobby is of no value to you then perhaps your plan is the best direction.- Top
