Re: Need Help With 1963 Restoration

Thanks guys! Going to go with the "Volt" battery or maybe an A2 Delco used on 4 wheelers! Want to keep the weight down under 2600 lbs with the 525 LS3. Might get under 10 seconds in the quarter with that combo.
I know the 1963 judging team is gonna love this restoration! Probably have it in KC this next year! The interior is a knockout. Saddle Tan Leather on cut down C5 seats with headrests from Al Knock! 1963's did have headrests didn't they???? Please advise!!!! Don't want a deduct for missing out on options! Want all options available, PS, PB, Power Seats, Power Mirrors with heat, and cruise. All available in 1964 I believe.
Keep the suggestions coming! Probably gonna go with the Dewitt dated and modified for use with the LS3! I really like that sanded and slick top so the date and part number stands out!!!

        Steve,

NICE! I think you are virtually guaranteed a near 100 % top flight with a car of this caliber. Heck, it's so beautiful now, I'm not so sure that paint will improve it! I can't wait to see your next one!

I have a few cans of left over TR and WB bolts, JR.

These are the "real deal" bolts, not reproductions.

They're yours if you want 'em.

You better have a high flow high pressure electric water pump, in aluminum of course. These were an option in 63 weren't they? No way for the judges to no-no and give a deduct. If need be just etch a plastic sheet with all the correct trim data and paint it silver and glue it to the cage. That is a numbers matching LS3 isn't it, it was an expensive and rare option too.

                    Don,
Matching numbers motor for sure! Tank sticker and window sticker included! Got it from the original owner with glove box info complete.

Chuck, I think the problem here on this post is JR. has a few loose screws.

Pretty sure that was only if ABS and DSC were fitted. Pretty funny to watch the passenger's face during a PV when these are being tested.

Well, Ol' JR has always had a few loose screws.

JR. I have only bolts for ya. NO nuts, NO flat washers. I do have some "modified" lock washers, ones where I've filed off and removed the serrations on the sides. They'll "pass".

See you in Old Town in January.

                              Joe, just a few suggestions:

The Volt battery is a good choice, it will meet your 2600 pound limit on its own...

Radiator is a tough choice. Have you given any thought to just taking out the radiator and making the first air-cooled Corvette? Wow, that would be cool! (maybe the wrong choice of words)

You may want to consider the bubble top option, because it is, of course, the only way to go on such a car... They are now available with a crack down the middle, for creating your own split window Roadster…

I like your choice of seats, but I may have gone with the rare bench seat...

One caution, as you restore the paint, try not to put too much hair spray on the key places, as the Michigan Chapter had seventeen cars covered in hair spray burst into flames at the last chapter meet. The rumor that a paint judge had to have his finger surgically removed from the hair spray when he tested the dullness of the paint is not completely true….

I applaud your choice of 63 for such a complete concours restoration, as nobody but you and I really knows what parts were on these cars in the first place.

P.S. Don't listen to Steve, he'd have you do things the judges wouldn't like…look at that ridiculous car, what 63 Corvette would have only four tail lights?

Hhhhmmmmmm---Boombatz, Boombatz, yeahh, that's the guy! You related to him?!? He has got a lot of good parts for me cheap. He gives me the option of buying the whole car or just the parts I want. He delivers them here to Texas then what I don't want he takes on down to Mexico, then they come up on Craig's List. Seems like a round about way to get cars and parts. I think I recognized you in that movie. I couldn't figure out why for the whole 20 minutes of the movie you weren't wearing clothes. You Hollywood folks are different. I envy your lives and being in the movies. I had a dog like the one in the movie I saw you in and thought I saw that lady before, too but didn't recognize the horse. Kinda looked like Flicka---the horse, not the lady. Strange place for what looked like a birthmark---on the lady, not the horse. If you had filmed with a Corvette instead of that hippie van you could have sold videos through NCRS. Are you making another movie soon? Anyway, congratulations on your performance! Steve
