    Quick question about nuts/washers

Currently performing 1972 Corvette chassis restore. This may sound like a silly question, but can it be assumed that the type of plating on all nuts and washers is the same as the plating on the bolt that they are mated with? I.E., if a bolt is CAD plated then the related nut/washer for that bolt is also? If not can anyone provide an example where they are different?

    Regards,
    Roger

I can not cite you a chassis example off hand, but the alternator adjusting bolt and flat washer on your car are plated a silver color (I do not wish to get into a discussion of cadmium v zinc) and the lock washer is a dark color.

Most generalizations, including this one, are not true.

For a 1972 in most cases that is a no the washers in most cases were not plated at all. But in some cases they were most of the time it was on the bolts that were blackened not the silver plating.
I know it is not the answer you were looking for but that is what I have seen on many original 1972 cars.
