    Torque specs needed

Can someone help me with the torque specs for the following:

    1. front splash shield bolt to steering knuckle/spindle
    2. 2 bolts that hold the steering knuckle arm and brake mounting plate to the spindle

The car is a 66 and I can't find the specs in the AIM or CSM.

    Thanks in advance
    Rob

The front brake anchor bolt (the single 11/16-16 bolt) is 120 lb/ft.

I've never found a spec on the steering arm bolts. I use 70 lb/ft on these 7/16-20 bolts. However, I don't know how accurate measured torque is on these bolts since they use a lock nut.

      Thank you Joe.

I couldn't find anything on either. I torqued the steering arm bolts at 65 ft. pounds.

The upper splash shield/upper brake mounting plate bolt I didn't torque to 120. Are we talking the same bolt? The one I'm talking about is 15/16" by 1 1/4" long. I tried to take a picture to post, but I'm having a hard time posting pictures. I can email you, if you like.

Let me know and Thanks again.

That's the one. There's only one on each side at the top. This is the brake anchor bolt. GM says the torque on this bolt is 120 lb/ft. While it might seem like it, this is not excessive torque for a bolt of this thread size and SAE grade 8 material spec. By the way, the same bolt was used from 1965 to 1982.

I find that I am incorrect on this one (but I sure can't figure out why). I was going by the GM specification for 1969+. Since the bolt used for the entire 1969-82 period was the same as that used for 65-68 (GM #3864119 for the entire 65-82 period), I figured the torque should be the same. However, according to GM, the torque for 65-67 is 75 lb/ft. The torque for 69-82 is 120 lb/ft (I don't have 68 values). Why the difference? I have no idea; it doesn't make sense to me. It's possible, though, that one of the torque specs is incorrect. As I mentioned previously, given the size of the bolt, the 120 lb/ft spec seems more reasonable to me.
