    63-66 non-tele rag joints

are these joints supposed to have a copper sire/strip that provides continuity for the horn function? i seem to recall they did have this copper strip but the original joint off a lo mile 64 as well as three NOS joints(part # 5690809 group 6.525) don't possess the continuity strip. am i loosing it? mike

    Mike,
Jim Shea posted this drawing in another thread. I'm sure as soon as he see's your thread he will weight in. The way I read it is they at some point they changed the rag joint to use a screen ground disk in the rag joint. After that the ground strap went away so the ones you have were made after that change went into effect.

      Mike,

Is it possible the ground strip broke off and you just can't see the stub where it's attached to one of the rivets. According to the above drawling the change to the screen mesh was made circa 1971.

I remember Jim Shea stated that as soon as a engineering change was made the parts were immediately updated in production. The mesh is a much better design.
