    Ncrs classified adverts.

I posted an classified earlier today, not to difficult.

But I just went and checked the classifies and there is a grand total of 6 (SIX) advertisements.

Is there a technical problem or is nobody interested in using this service?

Everyone keeps forgetting there is less than 500 people active on here. How many buyers and sellers do you expect?

I tried going there and it wanted me to reset my password, I said nuts to it -- I actually said something else, but they would throw me off if I typed it. I decided I don't have anything to buy or sell so I gave up because I was a lookie lou anyway. Just like the orphan items there is a lot of noise in the beginning, but the reality is pretty boring. I feel sorry for the IT people who put a lot of time and effort into it for the few participants.

I also got "We could not log you in.
You may need to Reset your password click here" That really doesn't make sense since I've used the same password to register for events, read the Driveline, etc. Is it supposed to ask us to do that?

I think it is the way it is. Either John Wagoner or Gary Chesnut or Rob Musquetere posted that we had to do that.

I tried too, wouldn't accept my long time password, said I had to change it. I don't want to have different passwords for everything on NCRS, this makes no sense. I also posted this on the upper section, but it was removed.

John or Gary or Rob can explain this from an IT standpoint better than I, but you do not have to change your password. When you try to log in the first time and your log in is rejected, you are told to reset your password. Follow the prompts to reset it, but don't enter a new password. Simply "reset" with your existing password. You will be directed back to the classified log in page. Log in as you would the TDB and you will be good to go. This process takes all of about 45 seconds.

Less than 24 hours and the boo birds are out already? I appreciate the classifieds section, will check it frequently, and it will be the first place I post any (worthwhile) item for sale.

The use of the term 'reset' may be causing some confusion when it comes to initially logging in to the classified ads. All you are really doing is establishing your existing password to be used for classified ad access. Neither difficult nor time consuming.

I have tried four times to get it to accept my credentials and am having no luck. I hope to get it to work. I like this option to sell or buy online.

No luck here either. I've tried a few times to reset, and every time I return to the Classified page it tells me it still can't log me in.

Ah - I got it now.
Try hitting F5 on your computer to refresh it. For some reason that worked, even when opening new pages did not.
                      No, I don't know why.

                          Re: Ncrs classified adverts.

                          Guys,

The Internet does what is called "caching" pages. Caching means a page you've previous visited is saved to be used later. Pages are cached along the Internet highway, by your ISP and also in your browser.

Caching is supposed to speed up delivery content to the user. Often it's problematic and causes what Patrick experienced.

In software we try to force a fresh page, but that doesn't always work.

Bottom line when you think you're going in circles, click F5 key. Sometimes you might have to do it 3 or 4 times to clear all the cache.

                          Gary

OK, thanks, thought I was posting on the Sticky section "Classified Ads now up and running" at the top of the TD, that still has a green check mark showing I did. Guess it was moved?

I just went to the site and put in my NCRS user name and password and it recognized me and logged me in. I didn’t have to hit any reset button. In fact, I didn’t even see a reset button. I found it to be very user friendly. I posted my item without any complications.

                              Congratulations guys, job well done…
