1966 Dash Lights

Hi -
I noticed last evening that none of my dash lights come on.

I do get headlights, tail lights, brake lights, turn signals and interior courtesy lights.

But, none of the insturment gauge lights come on.
I visually inspected the fuses, and none appear to have blown.

Would anyone be kind enough to advise this novice where to start?

Check for blown fuse, or possible bad rheostat in the head light switch.

UPDATE --
After reading some other posts, I did the following:

Slowly turn the dimmer switch from left to right, back and forth.
I was able to find a "sweet spot" to where the dash lights come on, but it has to be down at the dim position.
After a few seconds one bulb at the bottom of the tachometer starts flashing.

In order to get the interior courtesy lights on (hard left), it has to be jiggled too.

Is the culprit here, a bad head light switch?

Hi Vito:

I would to get some contact cleaner sprayed into it while turning it back and forth several times. With a little luck it may solve the problem for a good while. If it doesn't work, replace the switch as it would likely have a damaged spring that the contact glides across. If you replace the switch, there is a button on the switch to be depressed that releases the knob and shaft. Sometimes they hang up and require a little work to remove. The switch is relatively easy to change out.
