Check the manual for glass color. There are two possibilities depending on build date.

        Ralph,

The early 63s used cream colored panels. But as mentioned they gradually moved towards grayish panel throughout the year. My car was build the last week of production and predominately built with grayish panels. Cars built during the middle of the year will have some of each color.

The primer color was red oxide directly on the fiberglass followed by a medium gray coat of sealer just before the color coat was applied.

The change took place approximately vin 11000 with a tolerance of about +/- 2000. Combinations of both colors possible on transition cars. Grey glass varied from light to dark.

The timing of the color change may have varied a bit more than 2000 cars after car 11000. Car 13696 has mostly white panels, but both lower front fenders are grey, so things were still mixed up at that point.

Things were well mixed for a long time. The early ones also had gray primer like the C1s. I don't know how long that lasted.

#2 I would think depends on paint color, primer color would contrast paint color to show coverage. Red over gray, silver over red etc. Phil 8063

There were only two colors of primer as Tracy indicated earlier. Red primer on fiberglass followed by light grey primer. The light grey acted like a guide coat as the majority was sanded off to level the surfaces.
