Does anyone know where I can order a set of fresh 1963 alternator brushes, one is broken in my alternator (which I checked out yesterday):

Rob, Have you tried the corvette venders? those alternator brushes are available through most of our auto part stores here in the U.S. and can sometimes get the housing and brushes as a set.

They usualy pop up on eBay, which is where I got these from. The D-708 is for the earlier design '63 and '64's; the D-722 for the 1100693 thru ... 696 alternators and a few years beyond.

The GM #1958197 alternator brushes were discontinued without supercession in July, 1981.

The GM #1964682 holder with brushes was relatively recently discontinued.

However, no problem. The individual brushes are available as manufactured by Standard Motor Products under their number RX-89. The holder with brushes is Standard part number RX-99.
