    NCRS Judging new cars

We have many general cars shows where I live in New York. I would say probably 10% or more of those cars are brand new. They all expose there new Hemi engines or Shelby conversions I have even seen a Dodge Charger V6s owner proudly showing their stock new car. Personally I think this is silly. Whats to judge. Its a new car. Does NCRS have certain rules about brand new Corvettes being allowed in shows?

    Walter,
NCRS does have a two places for newer Corvettes. In the Display arena, each NCRS Judging event Chapter, Regional and National we have a Sportsman Award. This Award is open to all years 1953 to current 2014. You accummulate points towards a plaque presented to you by your Chapter.
In addition the Annual NCRS National Road Tour is a great way to enjoy your Corvette the way it was intended, Driving it. In 2013 there were 172 Corvettes that travelled to Hampton, Virginia. Our starting points are spread across the USA and Canada. Our 2014 destination is Kansas City on July 13, most Road Tours start on July 10th. The National Convention is five days in a wonderful convention facility. The application form for the RT and National will be in your Jan-Feb. Driveline. I hope this information helps.

Please join us for an exciting week.

If we would have been judging new cars back in the 50's and 60's, we would be much smarter today in our knowledge of these cars. Someday, sometime, guys and gals will be going over the 2014 Stingray like we do now on a treasured classic. Document em now. It will make things easier later. The hobby will not survive if we have to rely on us old guys and our old cars. The new car guys are the key to the future. I'm glad they are there. Just my stupid, worthless opinion.

What year did NCRS start judging C-2 Corvettes? It had to be in the early 80'S because I waited to join till after they allowed C-2S in.

Vette Vues.jpgThere is an article published in Vette Vues May 1977 vol 5 #11 that states the C2 judging was discussed at the 1977 NCRS board meeting. Judging was to start in summer of 1977 for 1963-67 for a trial period. If the response is good, as others expect, the expansion to 1967 will become perment.

For those members that were here back in 1999, the answers to these questions can be found in the Summer 1999 issue of The Restorer that Dennis Clark & I put together...the Silver Anniversary Edition with the silver cover and the embossed 25th Anniversary logo...for those of you that joined after the summer of 1999, you'll have to wait for the summer 2014 issue of The Restorer to answer those and all your questions about NCRS and how it came to be and what it is today!!!
