I have tracked codes on a couple engine options, and yes Virginia, they were batch built. At least for the hi-po four barrel units

Carburetors were not the only component batch built, and I suspect this is true for all car manufacturers. Michael -- broaden your research.

Thanks guys, I suspected this wasn't a Ford only inventory/logistics thing. For instance, the '67 427 351 blocks and hi-po heads, seem to cluster around October '66 and March '67 from some I have talked to about this. Maybe they were also batched. The Ford group is starting to see some repros of various parts that are outside the batch intervals, making them suspicious. I think this is an interesting issue to look into. Cheers!

Some of us have been for a while; just not for Fords.

The batch build is the very reason for the 6 month window. Carbs, water pumps & alternators all come to mind as being batch built.

Some parts are well outside the 6 month window. Glass is, of course, up to 1 year earlier. 1971 LS-6 parts are 2 years earlier for some specific parts as the used leftover L-88 parts from 1969. I am sure that other examples exist as well.
