Michael, the original owner told me that he was 18 when he bought the car new and his father had to sign for the GMAC loan since he wasn't 21 years old. He had to work two jobs to make the car payments even with his car in trade. He's a long distance trucker now and about 64 years old now. He said that Ideal Chevrolet only sold 3 Corvettes in '67, maybe that's why I had so much trouble finding it; nobody here ever heard of Ideal.

      Re: Documentation

Thanks Carl. Good advice. I've driven it on a few 30+ mile trips prior to PV. I'm going to use the bolt-ons and radials from my driver. Better ignition wires are a must. I'll probably also need a few spare fuel pump cables for the injection. And an AAA membership, although I may get and On-star mirror.

My first daughter was born on Oct 22, 1968 I sold the '67 coupe I had purchased new in June of 67 in June or July of 1969. I honestly don't know what replaced it.

BTW, now that I know my present '67 was delivered new in Virginia and was purchased 20 years later in Texas, I think I will be contacting some out of state DMV's. Anybody have any experience with either of these?

Texas DMV was a dead end for me. They refused any info unless I could show a court order.

Nice accomplishments, but I think it needs more in its life, but not more awards. It is time for it to come out of retirement...

Back in 1974, the car left a Marine base in San Diego and accompanied its Marine owner on a drive across the United States to its new home in Maryland. I think maybe late this Spring it will be time to retrace the drive...
Mike, get in touch with Jack Panzica, he posts here from time to time. He did all 48 contiguous states and back in his 65, then parts of Europe and Scandinavia. He knows what parts to take and what can break.

That's also good advice if you are selling a car. Nobody will pay you what all those expensive, hard to find, proper date and part numbered parts are worth. I am thinking about that when selling my TF '67 L71.
