    All,

    I installed the trailing arms on my early (Dec. '62) Convt. last night. In looking at the forum, there was an interesting discussion on this topic a few years back.

    My questions are pretty basic - I have the "corrected - longer bolt" kit from LI Corvettes for early '63.

    Should I... 1. Use the 2 plain washers or not and 2. Where does the lock washer go - I assume under the bolt head.

    Finally I assumed the nut is outboard of the frame, correct? The AIM shows none of these details.

    Thanks in advance for any responses to this question.

    Just as an FYI ... I used the lock washer under the head bolt, then the flat washer, threaded the head in-board as shown in the AIM and then used the 2nd flat washer, then the plain (not-hex) nut on the outer frame rail.

        Doug, early cars, such as yours, used only one split-ring lock washer on each bolt. This washer was installed under the nut, not under the bolt head. There were no flat washer on this attachment on early cars.

        Much later in 1963 production, when the bolt changed to one with a hole in it, a cotter pin was used in each bolt and flat washers were added under the head of each bolt, as well as under each nut.
