C1 Water Pumps

I have two different impellers, One cast and one stamped steel . I will be driving the old girl in the Fl.heat. Is one type more efficent than the other. I am using the stock pump for a 62 small block.

The original WP used a cast iron impeller with no problems. From what I have read stamped steel impellers may cause cavitation within the cooling system

The cast iron impeller is best assuming you have one in good condition. Many of these show serious metal erosion due to cavitation and corrosion. This will often be seen on the rear of the rotor. Among other things, this effectively shortens the shaft orifice. I would not use one that showed serious metal erosion.

FYI - I have new cast iron impellers for small block and big block 1955-1972 Corvette water pumps.
